Twelve young men from across Australia came together in Brisbane for their first National Youth Ambassador Council meeting — a day built around connection, leadership, and purpose.
From the moment the first icebreaker began, there was laughter, energy, and a real sense of belonging. Returning council members welcomed new faces, sharing their stories and reminding everyone that leadership isn’t about being the loudest — it’s about lifting others up.
Leadership in action
Before leading others, you have to know how to lead yourself. Through challenges, reflection, and teamwork, the boys explored their natural strengths and how every role — big or small — makes a difference when a team is built on trust and respect.
Each ambassador wrote their own purpose statement, beginning with: “This year, as a YAC leader…”
I want to make a positive impact by being a voice for those who feel uncomfortable or unheard.
I want to be part of something bigger than myself and be a voice for those who have important ideas and concerns to share.
I want to be a confident leader for my peers. I want to be someone people can go to to talk about mental health.
It was a powerful moment of self-reflection — helping them step into the year with clarity, confidence, and intent.

Living your values
The group explored what really matters to them — honesty, courage, kindness, respect, and accountability. Through activities like Step to the Line and real-life scenarios, they explored how values manifest in leadership, friendships, and daily decisions — and how they can choose to live those values even when no one’s watching.
Meanwhile, parents and carers took part in a new Supporter Workshop, helping us co-design ways to build stronger connections and conversations within families.
Moments of gratitude
The day closed with family affirmations — parents, carers, and supporters sharing words of pride for the young men standing before them. There were tears, smiles, and genuine vulnerability — moments that showed just how powerful it can be when young men feel seen and supported.
Each young man left with a clearer sense of who they are, what they stand for, and how they can use their voice to create change.
Why it matters
The Top Blokes Youth Ambassador Council is a movement of young men choosing to step up, speak out, and shape the kind of world they want to live in.
We’re proud of every one of these young leaders — their courage, honesty, and authenticity are shaping the future, one conversation, one action, and one value at a time.
