Last week we visited a couple of schools in Cessnock to run our Help a Mate workshop with members of the Top Blokes Grad Club.
These sessions give the boys a chance to build on what they learned during the program – helping them grow their confidence to check in with mates, recognise when someone might be struggling, and know how to respond.
The boys really showed up – giving the scenarios a go, having honest chats, and practising the check-in with their peers.

“I spent a lot of my life searching for validation from men I thought I wanted to be like.”
Last week, after training with @harry_garside , some of our Grad Club boys sat down for a chat about masculinity, emotions, and the pressure to “be a man.”
What stood out most?
They saw a different kind of strength, the kind that comes from being honest and respectful. From not needing to act tough or hide how you feel.
Grad Club gives young men the space to continue to explore big ideas without judgement. To figure out who they are – and who they want to become.

Top Blokes was proud to be part of Our Kids, Our Next Generation event for NAIDOC week.
Matt and Cortlan spent the day speaking with families, running our Big 6 quiz, and connecting with our future leaders.
We love coming along to events like this. It’s how we listen and learn from our communities – because their voices, hopes and futures are at the heart of everything we do.
Thanks to everyone who stopped past and had a go on the wheel or shared a conversation with us.

Not your usual Top Blokes interview 🎤
After their graduation, Edisese and Xavier flipped the script and put Youth Workers Joel and Nick in the hot seat.
They had a few questions of their own – from their favourite topics to teach to what led them into youth work in the first place.
It was a bit of fun, but it also showed just how far these boys have come. You can really see the growth – not just in confidence, but in the genuine connections they’ve built with each other and their mentors.
Moments like this are what Top Blokes is all about.
