Young men aren’t logging on looking for extremism. They’re looking for connection.
Today, we appeared before the NSW Parliamentary Inquiry into Measures to Combat Right-Wing Extremism to share what we see in our programs and what young men truly want and need.
Loneliness. Identity. Online influence.
When young men are given safe spaces, trusted mentors and room to think critically, they don’t drift toward extremism. They build resilience against it.
“Right-wing extremism doesn’t emerge in a vacuum. It often grows in the space where young men feel isolated, unsure of who they are, and disconnected from real support.”
— Melissa Abu-Gazaleh, Founder and Managing Director, Top Blokes Foundation
Young men are not the problem. They are part of the solution.

“It’s always okay to tell a mate how you’re going.”
Sometimes the biggest shift is the simplest one.
Instead of just “bottling it and leaving it,” these young men are learning that speaking up is a skill worth mastering. Top Blokes shows them how to share what’s on their mind before it becomes a burden, because checking in on a mate starts with being honest about your own head.

What actually makes a great mentor?
Our Youth Ambassador Council recently reflected on what makes the difference, and it all comes down to connection. A great mentor is someone who meets you where you’re at and respects you enough to be real.
When you get that match right, it changes the whole game. Having that steady support gives you the confidence to find your own direction and the space to figure out who you want to be.
That’s The Mentor Effect in action.

Last week, our team from across QLD and NSW came together for training and connection, stepping out of the day-to-day to focus on strengthening our impact for young men.
We reflected on what we’ve learned, where we’re heading, and how we can best support young men in a changing world. This year also marks 20 years of Top Blokes, standing alongside young men as they navigate life’s challenges.
BRING ON 2026!
