Over the course of the program, we’ve watched boys open up in ways they hadn’t before – not because they were told what to do, but because they felt safe. When there’s a real connection with the mentors delivering the program, the walls come down and the learning can actually begin.

It’s a heavy thing to carry a secret, especially when you feel like you’re the only one going through it.
For a lot of the young blokes we work with, these aren’t just “topics” – they are real-life experiences that they’ve been navigating in silence.
When one young man shares his story with the group, you can see the physical relief. The weight just lifts.
By being vulnerable, he’s showing his mates that they can do the same. It’s validating, it’s honest and gives everyone else in the room permission open up too.

It hits different when it comes from a mate.
There’s something powerful about a group of young blokes just being real with each other. When they realise they’re all navigating the same emotions and the same challenges, the walls come down. It’s not about us lecturing them, it’s about them listening and supporting each other.
By creating these connections now, we’re making sure these boys have each other’s backs long after the program ends.
It’s about giving them the confidence to be vulnerable, the strength to stick up for a mate, and the empowering them with tools to lead.

NSW Grad Club climbed to new heights this school holidays.
Trying something new isn’t always easy, but these young men gave it a crack. They turned up, leaned in, and backed each other through the treetops challenge.
Their willingness to step outside what’s familiar is inspiring! A big thank you to every young man who took part and to our mentors who supported them during the day.
